A handful of Uni’s own talented artists participated in the Vee’s Café art show on May 19. This was the second year of the show hosted by the owner of the café and former alumni of the school.
The show was a chance for fifteen students from Lynn Ishii’s Urban Artist Club and other student artists to exhibit their artwork for an audience to see.
“It was a great opportunity to display my art to a different audience,” says Senior Luis Contreras. The opening reception was on May 19 with 20 pieces on display until June 8.
The show was a competition as well. Ishii gathered several art teachers to determine the winners who would receive art supplies related to their media of choice.
The first, second, and third place winners were Senior Delfin Finley, Senior Victor Beteta, and Freshman Samantha Elms, respectively.
This was a chance for all the contributors to be acknowledged for multimedia talents.
This was the second year of the event and the first time to include all types of media.
