Moris Anynechi, a certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, came to talk to the students of the Future Medical Professionals Club on Tuesday, Jan. 19.

Dr. Anynechi opened his dental clinic, the Beverly Hills Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Institute, along Wilshire Boulevard in the Beverly Hills district. He handed out his business cards to students for future reference.

Dr. Anynechi came to encourage students on how to get into medical school.
Anynechi’s biggest piece of advice is to get good grades.

“The most important things to get into medical school are GPA and club involvement,” says Anynechi.

Susan Lee, the Club’s President, invited Anynechi to come and enlighten students about what he does.

The average number of years that it takes to become a certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon is around 11-15 years. It involves 3-4 years of undergraduate school, 4 years of dental school, at least one year of an internship, and 4-6 years of residency.

He displayed a Powerpoint presentation to the students that showcased the different types of surgeries he practices.

As an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, Dr. Anynechi does dental implant surgery, wisdom teeth removal, corrective jaw surgery, and also treats facial pain and injuries.

Daniel Lee, the Club’s Vice President, said, “I thought the pictures of the surgeries he showed were really cool. It made me want to pursue becoming a doctor in the future.”

“I think it is important that we meet real professionals in their field because students who are interested in the medical field sometimes don’t know how to break into it. Meeting them gives them a broad perspective on how and what the medical field’s all about,” said Susan Lee.

The Club’s President hopes to have more guest speakers come in the future.
