It’s winter again, and the drama club is rehearsing like always for its mid-winter play. But that is the only thing that it always does.

For one thing, drama is putting on a variety of one-act plays. Another difference isn’t just in the play itself, but who is now in charge. No, Ms. Seifert didn’t quit. She just wanted a change of pace, so four experienced student actors are directing their own one-act.

They are in charge of everything, from choosing their own play and cast to making the set.

Asked why she threw in this bizarre twist to a high school play, Ms. Seifert said, “I think it would be a learning experience for them to see how a hard it is to really put on a play. Plus one-acts are quick, fun, and the sets are easy to make!”

The four students she chose are Jessi Cochran, Sheldon Price, Keri Smith (all sophomores), and Sarah Fielding (the lone senior).

Jessi is directing Antic Spring, a comedy about dating; Sheldon is in charge of This is a Test, another comedy about the stress a test can put on you. Keri and Sarah are directing very dramatic plays. Keri’s is called Final Placement and Sarah’s is called Candid.

More plays call for more actors, and many new actors have filled in. Many new faces will be making their big appearances in these one-acts.

These plays will be put together in what Ms. Seifert calls “A Night of One-Acts.” It will be put on sometime in early February.
