George Clooney, John Krasinski, and Rene Zellweger star in "Leatherheads." -

George Clooney is golden. Every movie that he’s directed is a fantastic success, every starring role he has played in is meticulous and every script he has written is brilliant.

He’s beautiful, single and comes with a side of splendid humor. A combination of his talents can be summed up in his latest project, “Leatherheads.”

As of late, it’s easy to see a comedy and laugh just because the viewer is supposed to, bringing about a sort of fake enjoyment. A truly funny film is hard to come by, but “Leatherheads” is genuine comedy.

A 1920s football team struggles with the financial difficulties that came with the time period and must find creative ways of supporting their sport.

One solution, is to employ one of the nation’s leading pro-football players, a boy-wonder and war hero played by John Krasinski.

Rene Zellweger wiggles her way into the plot playing a feisty reporter who bargains to ruin the reputation of the star player and his new team.

The film is a classic marriage of physical humor and clever comedy. The jokes are witty and original compared to the normal rehashed jokes that are so often used these days. As the film moves from scene to scene, it’s difficult to stifle a giggle from the previous scene, and it’s funny all the way through.

Rene Zellweger just might be the only disappointment. Her face isn’t the youthful vision that it used to be, and her comedic timing is slightly off, but even as the only flaw, it still it’s a wonderful film.

It’s definitely worth the pricey ticket to the movies.
