Dear Editor McMullin,

In the last issue of The Bluffer, senior Deven Halcomb wrote, in reference to the previous issue, “...The Bluffer had a mishap on the back page...” Unfortunately I have found a mishap on the back page of the last issue of The Bluffer- the entirety of Mr. Halcomb’s letter.

The students expect much from the staff of their paper; they want current news on school activities, the city of Poplar Bluff and major world events. You always deliver and I thank you. Yet one would think that with so much going on The Bluffer’s page space would be very valuable. So I wonder why then would you publish something as childish as Mr. Halcomb’s letter? His letter is simply of such low quality that I do not believe it to fit the standards of our paper. Mr. Halcomb says, “That is a grotesque lie,” in response that a calorie count of a sandwich was off. Grotesque means frantically ugly. Ms. McMullin, is it normal to believe that the miscounting of Wendy’s Homestyle Chicken Sandwich’s calories to be a fantastically outrageous and ugly thing? Deven is clearly abusing his right to write in order to amuse his own (in my opinion) motives. I believe that this is sufficient reasoning not to publish such writings.

Mr. Halcomb’s letter has its single fact and you must deal with the shame of the miscalculation of a Wendy’s Homestyle Chicken Sandwich for the rest of your life! I’m talking about a Wendy’s Homestyle Chicken Sandwich here! More importantly though, is how will I never get back the one minute of my life it took me to read and thoroughly destroy by means of eating, Deven’s “grotesque” letter.

Not quite sincerely,

Steven Brookreson
