Bill Turner, also known as William Festus Turner III, has been chosen to grace the pages of The Bluffer for this month’s Senior Spotlight. Bill is the son of Bill Jr. and Janet Turner, and has a 14 year-old sister, Vivian.

A three-year football letterman, Bill has definitely accomplished many tasks throughout his high school career. As well as lettering in football, Bill also received first team all-conference this past season. Furthermore, he also participates in track, having lettered four years and was chosen all-state in the discus. In addition to his athletic abilities, Bill also sings and was all-state in choir.

Bill’s accomplishments can be attributed to his family: “My entire family has inspired, encouraged and pushed me to be as successful as I can be.”

When not playing sports or singing, he stays active in a variety of clubs including FCA, FBLA, Stuco, Link Crew and Young Republicans.

Although he has kept pretty busy in high school, Bill still makes time for his favorite hobbies which include singing, playing guitar and playing with Legos.

Some of his favorite things in the world range from the movie Star Wars to the singer Bob Dylan. The subject he enjoys the most is English, and his preferred teacher is “probably Ms. Hogg because of her endless knowledge.”

As for Bill’s favorite high school memory, “It was all the times I’ve spent around my coaches and teammates and how close we all became.”

Looking back upon his childhood, Bill said, “My best childhood memory was when my family would get together at my house on Christmas days and eat and watch football.”

Bill, whose favorite color is blue, said that if he could talk to anybody dead or alive, “it would be my grandfather, Bill Turner Sr., just so I could spend more time with him now that I’m older.”

On leaving high school, “I will definitely miss the people the most,” said Bill. “You can’t replace the bonds you make on any sports team or with any close friends.”

Bill plans on attending college and later becoming a youth minister and coach.

“In 10 years, I hope to possibly have a family with children and a good job,” he said.

Bill lives life to the fullest by his favorite quote: “What I had I gave; what I didn’t give I lost forever.”

He would like to leave the underclassmen with this advice: “Enjoy high school and remember each moment, because before you know it, it will all be over. Prepare for your future.”
