The Oscars are quite possibly more well known for the fashion being modeled by actors and actresses at the event than the awards being handed out to them. The Red Carpet becomes a runway as photographers are shouting out “Who are you wearing?” instead of, “What,” and hot, young starlets reply breathily with names like “Versace,” “Vera Wang,” and “Dolce & Gabbana.” The day after the ceremony the buzz isn’t about who won what, but who wore what and fellow staffer Chelsea Edmundson and I are going to discuss just that.

BEYONCE--Jacob O’Neal: The beading on the strap of her dress is so unusual....je ne sai qua...the gown itself is so classic but that gives it a twist.

Chelsea Edmundson: I think it’s very pretty, but a little predictable. I mean, it doesn’t stand out to me like some of the other gowns but she does look gorgeous as usual.

EVA GREEN--C: Holy crap, what is it?

J: It’s vampira, wait no, it’s a mummy.

C: Either way, it’s a shame such a pretty girl could look this bad. She looks so amazing in that scene in Casino Royale with that burgandy dress, I was so sure she would look that way at the Oscars, but guess not.

PENELOPE CRUZ--J: Definitely the best-dressed with that lush bottom and the intricate details on the top.

C: The fact that the top is detailed but all one color keeps it simple. Genius.

JENNIFER HUDSON--J: Some people may not have liked the metallic jacket, but I did.

C: I thought it was a smart choice--metallics are gonna be big this spring. Hudson is a full-figured woman and many women her size are often seen wearing an empire waist like this because it is so flattering on the figure, but the jacket makes her stand out.

JODIE FOSTER--C: She was one of my favorites. She looked so soft and feminine which is amazing because in a lot of her films she has to look kind of hard or masculine. She really showed that she’s truly a knock-out in this.

J: I really liked the grayish-blue color and I think it complimented her really well.

HELEN MIRREN: J: The gown has so much movement in the skirt, and the sleeves give it a more mature look, which is very age-appropriate.

C: Yes, I agree, and the fact that the sleeves are kind of sheer or skin-toned make it seem elegant, not frumpy. She looks so pretty! I hope I can look that good at her age.

JESSICA BIEL: C: Okay, what the heck is she wearing? The colors are tacky and it fits her figure poorly, which in her case is really a shame.

J: I think she cut a hole in her bedsheets. She cut a hole in her bedsheets and she wore them.

TUXES: J: I loved Djimon Housou’s tux. He really stood out in his tux because it was a chocolate color against all of the typical black tuxedos. My favorite had to be Steven Spielberg’s. It was the perfect, classic tuxedo.

C: Yeah I liked Steven Spielberg’s tuxedo but I guess his wife liked it too, because she basically wore the same thing.

J: Oh yeah! Haha I guess she did. Okay, best tux, but worst couple then.
