Fall semester is football season and every Friday during lunch a spirited pep rally is held on the Junior Lawn to help cheer on the football players.

One of Venice High’s biggest pep rallies is scheduled for lunch on the Watson Field on Oct. 29, date of Venice High’s Homecoming game against Fairfax. The J.V. game starts at 4 p.m., and the varsity game starts at 7 p.m.

At pep rallies, cheer squad performs their stunts and cheers the football team, the step team present their dance and step routines, and the flag and drill team do their routines.

“Our job as a cheer squad is to pump up the crowd, support and pump up the team to make sure they win, and to show our Gondo spirit.” said varsity cheerleader Denise Carrillo.

Venice High's students have also had dancing battles at the end of pep rallies. The battle starts when the music starts to play and students show off their dance moves. Most of the students dance together and some compete to see who’s better.

“Everyone is so hyped and pumped up before it ends. Pep rallies are a fun way to goof around and dance while cheering on our team!" said junior Monique Herrera.

“Many people never want the pep rally to end. Venice High’s cheerleaders would like everyone to come support our wonderful Gondoliers win our football game, so come and join the rest of your classmates every Friday during lunch at the Junior Lawn. Don't be late or you might miss one of our cheers!” said varsity cheerleader Denise Carrillo.
