The movie “ Be Kind, Rewind” was most definitely not what I had expected. Besides being inane and slow, the characters were bland.

The movie takes place in a small town in New Jersey at a dilapidated all VHS video and thrift store. The video store is about to be shut down, and in order to save the shop owner, Mr. Fletcher (Danny Glover) leaves Mike (Mos Def) in charge while he leaves to spy on the bigger video chains. Meanwhile Mike’s best friend Jerry (Jack Black) has become magnetized while trying to sabotage the local power plant, which he thinks is melting his brain. He causes all the VHS tapes in Mr.Fletcher’s store to become erased when he walks in.

Black, who has acted in children's movies like “School of Rock” and “Nacho Libre”, should stick to that genre of movie. In “Be Kind, Rewind”, he plays a character who was not the sharpest tool in the shed, quite clumsy, and a bit paranoid.

Mos Def was what I had expected. He is not really funny in movies.

In order to satisfy their most loyal customer, Mike and Jerry start to remake (swede) movies themselves using materials they find in the junkyard as props.

With our lack of imaginations that was not good enough . In addition, a three-year -old could have written the script. Although the movie was not great, it had a good point that there is always hope. (See the movie and you will find out what I am talking about).
