The class of ’04 hasn’t come together to acquire class spirit. Sure, we hear some class members singing ’04 cheers during special events, and we decorate our hallways to display our admiration, but true spirit is not celebrated through what you say but what you do. Unfortunately, the junior class does not understand this.

“[ ’04 has] no class spirit what so ever. Just screaming ’04 isn’t going to provide the senior year that they’re dreaming of,” said Consuella Allen, the class of 2004 sponsor. “It’s frustrating as a sponsor to prepare events when only a couple of people show up at meetings,” she added.

Along with a few other class of ’04 members, Consuella Allen has been trying to sell $7,000 dollars worth of merchandise, such as school bags, class t-shirts, and candy, but is unable to because of the lack of participants to help sell. “It’s a luxury to have Grad Nite and Senior Breakfast,” Allen said.

According to our class account, we won’t be able to enjoy those “luxuries.” This might come as a surprise, but the Class of 2004, who participated in making this school an “A,” will not be rewarded for their efforts because the school decided, by vote, to distribute the money elsewhere.

But we can recuperate. There is still time to become more active in the class by going to ’04 meetings on Wednesdays to listen and help create new plans for fundraising.

Bottom line: when a class doesn’t work for memories, they won’t happen and when that occurs we can only blame ourselves.
