Many professional actors claim in the dramatic art, “There are no small parts, only small actors,” and this held true on Wednesday, December 8, as THS hosted the District 14AA junior high One Act Play competition.

    “It was interesting to be on the production side of theatre,” Amber Kerzee (12) said. “We had high school students stage managing, running lights and sound, and accompanying junior high students every step of the competition.”

    Leon Junior High came in first place with “A Bauble for Baby”, Teague Junior High received second with “Wiley and the Hairy Man”, and Blooming Grove J.H. came in third place with “The Big Cross-County Race.”

    “There were some phenomenal shows,” Kyle Hayworth (10) said. “I can’t wait to see these actors and actresses compete in high school. Junior High One Act Play is good practice for their high school years.”

     Although this was the real deal for junior high students, the theatre production class that co-hosted the event with Mrs. Smith maintains that this was good practice.

    “Hosting Junior High district was great practice for Teague,” Nick Gibson (10) said. “We will be hosting high school district as well, and I think we are more than ready to cope with competing and hosting. I can’t wait.”
