Graduation. Ah…the word every high school student yearns to hear by the time they become a senior. While graduation is a time of sadness, it is also a time of celebration. These students are able to rejoice in the fact that they are considered “adults” in this big, scary world that life has to offer. Though each senior has a different story, they all have a legacy that will be left behind.
Corey Cowart: Plans to attend East Texas Baptist University, and major in church ministry, either youth or kids. He was involved in varsity baseball and football during his high school years, and was a part of Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Lions for the Lord. Some of his best memories in high school include making it to playoffs in baseball his senior year and being able to make new friends every year.
Which teacher has made more of an impact on you and how?
“Mrs. Erwin, she is always there for you if you need to talk, she is also a great teacher.”
How do you hope to make an impact on the school?
“I hope I left an impact by being a great student and someone that was true with his faith and beliefs.”
Megan Cockerham: Will be attending Tarleton State University and study for a degree in Elementary Teaching and then plans to get her Interpreters License in American Sign Language. She has been a part of Lions for the Lord and the Teague Lion Band her entire high school career. In addition to that, she was apart of the Teague High School (T.H.S.) Yearbook staff.
What would you like to tell the Freshman class?
“Make sure you try your hardest no matter what. Have fun!”
If you had to do it all over again, what would you have done different?
“Not to worry so much about all the small things in life.”
Kelly Mushinski: After graduation, Mushinski plans to attend Sam Houston State University and study for a Master’s in Accounting. She wants to take the exams to become a certified public Accountant and hopes to be financially successful in her future. Mushinski has been a part of the THS drama/theatre department in her high school years and earned many awards for acting. She was in band and was a high school twirler all four years.
What would you like to tell the Freshman class?
“I would like to tell the Freshman class to enjoy every last day of high school-no matter how slowly they seem to pass-because they will be gone before you know it.”
Stephen Davenport plans to be a youth minister and will be involved in mission work during this summer, where he will fly to Rio de Janiero and stay for two weeks with Corey Cowart. Davenport has been in the Teague Lion Band all four years, assistant drum major his senior year, and was a member of Lions for the Lord, Student Council, and Spanish Club.
Which teacher has made more of an impact on you and how?
“Ms. Myers, she is always there for us, even when we drive her crazy. She gives great advice and is on fire for God. Her door is always open.”
What will you miss about the school?
“I’m going to miss hanging out with friends, clinging on to the last bit of irresponsibility and not knowing better. The people that helped make who you are today.”
As the last few days of school are dwindling down, many seniors have mixed feelings about leaving THS. Some are excited, while others are not ready for their high school years to draw to a close. No matter their feeling, the seniors of 2011 will be greatly missed.
