Panic arose as a group of students at Trinidad and Tabago high schools mysteriously fell ill on November 17. However, this was not any sort of common illness. The students rolled to the ground and began speaking in some strange tongue.

            Two students attempted to throw themselves off of a railing and had to be physically restrained. Seventeen females found themselves exhibiting this strange behavior after fits of nausea and headaches beforehand.  One student, Kern Mollineau, reported that the girls had bruises and were much stronger than usual.

            When teachers took these students into a multi-purpose hall, a portion of the students had fallen into a semi-conscious state. Mollineau also claimed to have communicated with the devil that was apparently possessing one of the girls. He reported that the devil demanded a life, and told Mollineau to allow the girls to go to the bathroom and be left alone.

            Roman Catholic priests and pastors were soon called to the high school with holy water and prayers. Investigators say there was nothing in the environment that would trigger the fainting spells and nausea that the students were experiencing.

            A teacher at the school told authorities that the school was built around a burial site, however neighbors and residents denied these claims.

            Seventeen students were taken to a hospital and then sent home.
