On March 11, the Teague Lion Tennis Team traveled to Waco to compete in their first large tournament. The tournament consisted of tennis teams from Abbot, Hubbard, Stephenville, Crawford, Iredell, Valley Mills, Bremond, Happy Hill, Dawson, Bynum, and Morgan, and was held at the Waco Regional Tennis and Fitness Center.

Division A Girl Doubles:

Brandy Dixon and Markie Hertel- 8-1, 8-0, 8-6 (first place)

Markesha Warren and Emily Boyd- 0-8

Division B Girl Doubles:

Tiffany Thompson and Sophany Thach- 4-8

Division A Girls Singles:

Genea Cannon- 8-6, 3-8

Lindsay Hayes- 8-3, 8-1, 8-1 (third place)

Natalie Yeaman- 8-4, 8-2, 1-8 (fourth place)

Kallista Whiteside- 2-8

Division A Boys Doubles:

Taylor Hamilton and Fernando Zambrano- 8-1, 7-8 (7)

Landon Lancaster and Wade Venable- 8-2, 2-8

Division B Boys Doubles:

Ronard Nemons and James Owens- 2-8

Boys Singles:

Stephen Calixtro- 8-2, 4-8

Cullen Holmes- 8-1, 8-1, 4-8 (fourth place)

    “I’m really proud of the team for the way they competed at this tournament. Overall they played really well, and now each member knows specifically what they need to work on before district. The team will compete in a second tournament on the 25^th and again on the 27^th. These are their last actual tournaments before district. However, we will continue to work hard so the team will be prepared for district” Coach Satterwhite said.
