Following a disappointing football season, the Teague ISD School Board decided to make some changes and hire a new athletic director. After interviewing several people for the job, the school board has decided on hiring Coach Josh Finney from Maud.

            Coach Finney turned the athletic program, especially football, around in the four years that he was in Maud. Before his arrival at Maud, the football program there was in danger of being removed following many losing seasons. In the years that he was there, Coach Finney led Maud to a couple of district championships and some playoff appearances that they had not experienced in quite a while.

            Now, Coach Finney is looking forward to working with our Lions and making some positive changes. He believes that he can turn this program around. The athletes are also excited about the new athletic director. Junior football player Wade Venable said that he feels that “a district championship is coming our way.” Several other players are talking about good things are going to happen next year for the Lions. Coach Finney is ready to work with the athletes and lead them and this town to great things that we have not seen in quite some time.
