On December 5^th,Andrew Collins (9), Rosa Garcia (12), Christen Gore (9), Kamela Thompson (11), Stephen Davenport (11), and Karim Hussein (9) tried out for region band. The competition was held at Groesbeck High School.  The region band contest is for the A  SSB organization, or the Association of Texas Small School Bands, which means that the competition our students are up against is any 1A to 3A band students in the district.

Teague High School is proud of all the students who tried out for region band. It is hard work. The students spend hours up at the Band Hall practicing the music in front of Mrs. Martin and Mr. Fisher so they can aid them and critique them, and spend even more time practicing by themselves at home. The music is difficult and competition is tough. Despite the difficulty, Christen Gore made a chair in the all region band. When asked about her experience, Christen answered, “There were two rounds. At the first round, I had to play all my scales and the slow Etude. Then at the second round I had to play the faster and more difficult Etude. I was really nervous, but it turned out to be worth it. I really enjoyed my experience and I am definitely looking forward to next year.” There were over sixty other clarinets competing against Christen. She did very well and made 12^th chair in the band.
