Review: Jazmine Sullivan's "Love Me Back" Thursday, March 03, 2011 By Tyanna Hughes [ArticleImageHyperLink] Advertising Jazmine Sullivan possesses a talent beyond her 23 years of age; her soulful, melodic voice can warm the coldest of hearts. In her second studio album “Love Me Back,” released November 30, the songstress takes her talent to an entirely new level. Sullivan introduces the love-themed album with her first single, “Holding You Down (Goin’ in Circles),” which debuted at No. 15 on Billboard’s R&B album chart and No. 17 on Billboard’s Top 200 chart. Sullivan is extremely underrated ; with her vocals on “Love Me Back,” she should be topping these charts. Her second single, “10 Seconds,” is about a scorned woman who is literally giving her boyfriend ten seconds to leave. In the music video, the man dreams that Sullivan has him tied to a chair in an abandoned building with a bomb strapped to his stomach, and it seems the dream was supposed to serve as a warning for him. “In Vain” tells the story of a woman who has been left by her man for another woman. She’s saying that, considering all he sacrificed to be with his other woman, it better not be in vain. In “Love Me Back” every song tells a story. These are songs that women in relationships can understand and cherish. The Grammys appreciate Sullivan as an artist as well; she was nominated for “Best Female R&B Vocal Performance.” Sullivan is a truly talented artist who needs to get more recognition. “Love Me Back” is a great album with depth and powerful vocals and everyone should to listen to it.
