Mr. Areida suddenly came to the E101 class and shouted, “Everyone put your hands on the desks, don’t move.” Followin him were three CSMs. The first thing Mr. Areida did was to take away one student’s cell phone because it was on at the time. It is against the school rules. He stood in front of the class, watched everyone and explained what they are doing and what everyone has to do. Two CSMs (a man and a woman) took the metal detector wands and began to scan the student in the hall while a lady controlled the rest of the room, called one by one of the students out. They made sure that everyone had their hands on the desks. The students that were scanned had to go outside write a note about what happened. Mrs. Wertz was outside in the hallway with her students at the time. In side room E101, the CSM continued to search the belongings of the students and tried to find stuff that was not allowed to be at school, which took quite a time to finish. After the students were allowed to come in to their class, Mr. Areida spent time to talk to them about how the students can get their belongings that was taken away back. He even told the class what is not allow at school.

There were many things that the CSMs took away because, “It is against the school rules,” Mr. Areida said.

As Mr. Areida had said, things that students are not allow to bring to school are weapons (knife, guns, shape objects), drugs, white-out, electronic devices like iPods, cell phones, and cameras if they are on. School also do not allows anyone to bring any kind of spray to school. Students can use their electronic devices after school only.

The students in room E101 journalism class had many opinions and thoughts about the classroom search. “It was random but I think if it’s for our safety, they have the right to search us,” said Bibi Nisar.
