IRVINE- On Friday, January 13, from nine to eleven at night, Patriots sported jerseys of all kinds and crowded the auxiliary gym for the fifth-quarter Jersey Jam, after a victory against the Irvine Vaquero's Varsity basketball team. Students were required to attend at least the third and fourth quarters of the basketball game in addition to paying the five dollar dance admission cost.
Promptly after the game ended, students lined up outside the gym waiting for the Associated Student Body (ASB) to make their final touches for the dance. As soon as bags, wristbands, and school I.D's were checked, students were welcomed back into the gym as the lights dimmed by lasers, loud music, and friends.
"Everyone always says it's the best dance they have gone to," said Glara Choi, ASB dance commissioner.
D.J. Kris from N Effect played a mix of modern music with old classics that kept students on the dance floor the whole night, such as Party Rock Anthem, Super Bass, Seven Nation Army, and Hey Song.
One of the aspects of why the dance was so enjoyable was being able to hang out with friends at school in a non-stressed environment.
"The music was amazing, and you could tell that everyone was having fun!" said freshman Harir Djavidi.
The Jersey Jam also encouraged students to support the varsity basketball team by attending the game. "The environment was care free and a good place to just have a good time," said junior David Navarro, summing up the evening. The Jersey Jam was a success and Patriots can look forward to and anticipate ASB's future dances.
