TUSTIN- On Tuesday, October 11, Girls’ Varsity Golf won their match against Northwood, ranked 8th in the county, and made the competition look easy. The Lady Patriots secured their 204-211 win and helped propel Beckman to a record of 15 wins and 2 losses overall this season.
     Senior and captain Kaitlin Park aided the team tremendously by scoring a 4-under-par 32 and performed best in the match. However, Beckman had a good performance overall. Freshman Marisa Bhanubandh had the second lowest score at 41, sophomore Jennifer Kim hit a 42, and junior Masi Desai shot her lowest score of the year by finishing with a 44. Other players on the team, like junior Yeyoon Choi, shot a score of 45, sophomore Marta Kwak ended with a 46, and junior Taylor Rios finished with a 48.   Kwak stated about the match: "Finishing a match takes almost the whole day and requires a lot of energy, but over all our team did well."
      Before Tuesday's match, the Lady Patriots also participated in a tournament at Los Serranos Golf Course on Monday. From 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., the team practiced a “shotgun” game with the 18 holes and was able to walk the entire length of the course during their practice match.  
     Because of the girls’ great team effort, the Lady Patriots are now ranked 5th in Orange County. On top of that, Beckman is ranked 1st overall in the Pacific Coast League. If they continue their winning streak and win Thursday, they will be able to secure their first ever league championship for Girls’ Golf at Beckman High.
     Head Coach Bushong commented, "I am very proud of how hard the girls have worked this year and how well they have played. This is the best girls’ team we have had at Beckman." Under his guidance, the Lady Patriots are sure to do well to finish off this season and leave their names in Beckman history as champions.
