Warm, kind, and talented are just a few words that describe Beckman’s new French teacher, Mrs. Soto, as she begins her journey as a Beckman Patriot. Completely fluent in French and experienced with the country as well – she attended the Sorbonne, located in Paris, for about three months over the summer – she has used her love for travelling and learning different languages to help Patriots foster a love for the culture.
     Mrs. Soto, who has travelled to France more than 15 times, can also speak Spanish, English, German, and dabbles in some Italian as well. However, French, which she felt was her calling, was something she actively pursued and decided to teach. For 23 years she  taught at Esperanza High School, where after retiring, she dedicated her time to substituting within schools in the Tustin Unified School District. One of those schools was Beckman. It was not long after she received the opportunity to teach French here that Mrs. Soto decided to return to the language and spend more time with her granddaughter, who is also a Patriot.
     Mrs. Soto teaches all levels of French and instructs students from all grade levels. This opportunity to impart knowledge of something she loved was an honor for her. Mrs. Soto stated, "I love the teachers. They are very friendly, and I am enjoying my students.”  Mrs. Soto has come very far in her French teaching career, and a fresh chapter has started in her life. She expressed, “My favorite thing here at Beckman is that it has all the new technology”. As a new staff member at Beckman High School, we would love to make her feel very welcome.
