Between her daily workouts for soccer and the hectic lifestyle of a junior, Jessica Miller finds a way to balance it all. She is able to combine the vigorous life of a Varsity Soccer player and that of a successful academic student, which is the true meaning of a "student athlete."  Miller reveals that being a student athlete is a full time job. “If I’m not studying then I am playing soccer.”

Jessica Miller was born in Long Beach at the Long Beach Memorial Hospital on September 7, 1992. At an early age, Jessica discovered a passion for soccer, which left her mother and father had no other choice but to put her on a team. She started at the age of five on a small AYSO team called Pink Panthers.  Jessica started off her career playing forward until she moved to her club team at the age of ten where she started playing goal keeper. “The goalie for my team got hurt and ever since then it’s just been home for me.”

When Miller arrived at Beckman High School as a freshman, she quickly made her way up to Varsity and split time with the senior goalkeeper, Shanel Shack, until she took her spot toward the end of the season. “Being in the net as a freshman was a scary thing,” stated Miller. Even though she was a freshman, she closed out the season winning second team All Pacific Coast League. Playing Varsity helped her make her way up to team captain.

Miller also plays soccer outside of school for the club team So Cal Blues. “It has always been my dream, even when I was little, to play college soccer.” Although she is being looked at by several colleges, Miller wishes to play college soccer at UCLA or USC and she is willing to work hard to get there -- and she is no stranger to hard work. When Miller got hurt this season and was out for a month, she did not let it stop her. When other people would have quit, Miller attacked rehab and fought her way back into the net. In her first game back, Miller had fourteen saves and only one goal scored against her.

Although she looks forward to college soccer, Miller still has this year and next at Beckman and she is sure to continue to be successful on and off the field.  Come support her at a Beckman Girls' Soccer game this season and you're sure to be impressed.
