Violence in Gaza

This past week Israel attacked Hamas, coined by some news sources as the "Bloodbath in Gaza." Both the Arabs and Israelis are warring against each other; rocket fire from Hamas and Israel is commanding the skies with jet fighters.

I won't be the first to say that the politics on the issue seem to be overly complicated and I have yet to meet someone who can explain the conflict to me without his or her own bias and emotions getting in the way.

Trust in news sources has not been the strongest in recent times and I believe the only non-biased accounts would be photographs, which never show the whole picture. What is going on is a conflict that has roots in ancient times over a strip of land.

It reminds me of sitting in the car with my older sister as a toddler; making faces, then pinching, turning into hitting, always ending with my mom saying,"I do not care who started it."

Economic, political and religious issues, along with a duty to maintain global peace, require America to be in Gaza. I wish the U.S. could return to isolationism; we can barely look after our own country. But, Israel has no allies in the Middle East. Imagine that the countries were like people, and all these countries are going to gang up on one nation; no way is that fair.

This is a territorial, political, spiteful and most importantly a religious conflict. Probably the most idiotic idea to kill people over. And frankly, we should end the conflict like my mom would end arguments that my sister and I would have over toys or something: "If you can't talk it out, then no one deserves it."

But, do not start saying, "Look at what they're doing to us." Because there is fighting on both sides and it comes to a point where some leader, somewhere, just wants to take control and will do anything. Just live in peace; it doesn't matter who says what about anything.

"An eye for an eye will make the world blind."
