I have trying to hook up with this one girl at this school, but I have been unsuccessful. What should I do to get her to like me? I have done everything to catch her attention, from wearing makeup to shaving my hairy legs. What do you think I should do? Please help me!

Dateless,

Thank you for writing to and confiding in The Beckman Chronicle. I hope my advice can help you to make the right decision. Let’s start off, as always, by re-addressing your problem: you like a girl and have tried all sorts of creative things to get her attention; however, none of this is working. It seems to me that there is more to the issue, which I will refer to along with my advice.

First and foremost, it appears that you are trying to be someone you’re not and a sort of “jokester” in order to get her to notice you. No offense, but if you’ve never talked to her before she probably isn’t amused or interested in your courting tactics if she hasn’t responded to them already, so I would try a new approach. What ever happened to talking to someone and getting to know them? That will probably be your best bet.

Next, girls catch on pretty quickly, so if you only like her just to “hook up” with her, then she can probably already tell. This may be why she hasn’t responded to your attempts. If not, then maybe she simply just hasn’t noticed your “effort,” or just isn’t interested and doesn’t know how to break it to you. As you continue your courting process, keep in mind that girls are both fairly easy to please and insult, so be careful, thoughtful, and genuine in what you do. Put some time into your endeavors, and if this fails to work, then feel free to write back to The Beckman Chronicle. Let me know how things went, and follow up by e-mailing beckmanchronicle@gmail.com. Best of luck to you!

Sincerely,

Megan Hysaw
