The Beckman Patriots, (5-2), lost to the Irvine Vaqueros, (6-1), in the opening league game at Tustin’s Northrup Stadium. Even though the Patriots were predicted to lose against Irvine, they still came out fired up.

The Patriot defense gave up a touchdown in all four quarters. “The defense had a lot of missed tackles,” stated Coach Al Galloway after the game. “Offense and defense didn’t show up,” said junior Mitch McDaniel, outside linebacker, #92. McDaniel continued, “We had a good week of practice, but it didn’t show in the game.”

Cole Ambrose, quarterback, #15 connected to Trevor Lowe, wide receiver, #12, on a cross. Trevor Lowe fought on after the catch to get the Patriots an extra 15-yard after the catch. This connection put Beckman in a good field position. With the Patriots fighting on, they were eventually forced to punt, putting the defense back on the field. Even though the offense wasn’t performing to their highest standard against the Vaqueros defense, junior, Keith Lawson, running back, #33, still managed to put seven on the board in the fourth quarter. The game concluded with a loss for Beckman and a final score of 7-28.
