It has been proven that playing video games a couple of hours a week isn’t entirely bad or unhealthy for people. In fact, scientists have confirmed that video games have a positive side that can actually provide benefits, especially for youths growing up. Therefore, people should be allowed to play video games as long as there is a certain limit or even a schedule for the amount of time spent playing. A little bit of everything is always good for the human mind and body.

Video games can improve one’s concentration span because he or she must concentrate for longer periods of time while playing. People tend to focus more on the video games’ objectives because a slight lapse in concentration can cause a penalty. By concentrating for longer periods of time, one is able to increase his or her ability to focus on matters besides games as well. Concentration is a particularly vital tool needed by students because homework and class work can be difficult tasks without it. Procrastination can be a difficult obstacle to conquer, but it never occurs when one plays video games. A little game-playing every week can therefore help students improve their attentiveness skills, which can truly be helpful in the future.

By playing video games, one can also increase reaction timing and hand strength/ability. It is said by scientists that one’s reaction speeds increase up to five times by playing video games because he or she learns to react fast from certain aspects of the game. Like people say, “practice makes perfect”, and with practice, one will be able to improve reaction time tremendously. Having a slow reaction time isn’t always helpful, and one must be alert and keen during class sessions in school.

Lastly, it has been proven that playing video games increases the chances of job selection. People that played video games from a young age often become better surgeons than those who don’t. Scientific evidence has shown that because video games bring about precise and steady movements by the hands and arms, such jobs that require great concentration and precise actions are more likely taken by video gamers.

Many people think of video games as tools for causing bad health and violent thoughts. This is definitely an ignorant assumption. People do not go around saying, “I want to play video games to learn how to rob a bank!” People play video games because they want to relieve stress, and also just for entertainment purposes. Besides the fact that video games can be addicting and distracting, games provide a lot of great benefits for people. A world without games isn’t a fun world at all. Games aren’t only for sustenance, but also for gaining knowledge. Game designers do not create the games they do for random reasons. All game creators have their own purposes in creating games, whether it is teaching a moral or even just to provide gamers with insight on such important technological aspects such as graphics and dynamic audio. Therefore, games aren’t so bad after all because they increase the overall skills that are essential to people in the real world.
