Whether she’s in class, on the field, or just hanging out with her Beckman crowd, senior Ashley Boling is driven to obtain her goals. With her positive charisma, there is no telling what Boling might accomplish in the years to come. With only one more year left on the Beckman campus, Boling unmasks what she will miss from high school, her views for this year, and her hopes for the future.

As one of the newest staff writers for The Beckman Chronicle, Ashley Boling is already involved in many activities on campus. Whether she’s on the field playing Center for Beckman’s Girls Lacrosse Team or horseback riding, Boling finds it essential to balance her academic, athletic, and personal life. She explained, “To become a successful student in high school, I think you need to find a balance.”

As some students work excessively over the course of the year, encountering frustration and stress, Boling takes a different approach. Boling advised, “Don’t work too hard, but don’t deprive yourself in which you won’t succeed.” With some of her favorite memories from high school including dances and spending time with friends, Boling believes that quality time with friends at school is important. She expressed, “I enjoyed spending time with friends. I especially enjoyed eating lunches with them. It was nice to talk while just kind of ignoring the rest of the world behind you.”

As for this year alone, Boling wants to make sure one goal becomes a reality. Cheerfully, she disclosed, “I would really like to get into a four-year school! I was thinking UC Davis [University of California, Davis] because they have an amazing veterinarian school or maybe even Colorado State University. They have a good biology program.” With the hopes of becoming a zoologist, Boling has plenty of remarkable options to choose from once college starts to creep upon her. She hopes her future will land her somewhere outside of California. She continued, “It’s time to try something new, to go out of the state; a whole new direction.” Playfully, she admitted, “I do want to end up on a ranch! I think I would enjoy experiencing the four seasons for a change, just being able to snowboard would be fun...Well, once I get the hang of it.”

Even though this is the last year of Boling’s high school career, tears won’t be rolling down her cheeks anytime soon. Smiling, she declared, “What I look forward to most this year is getting out of here! It’s been interesting, but I’m just done with the high school experience.” She continued, “After a while, the whole experience just loses its flavor.” No matter what, Boling's determination and dedication will lead her to accomplish her dreams.
