Beckman’s 2008 prom is rapidly approaching; the days are numbered. As everyone knows, this year’s prom theme is “You’re the one that I want,” inspired by the well-known movie, Grease. With a 50’s theme, the juniors and seniors have been celebrating the arrival of prom these past couple of weeks.

Of course prom is exciting, but will Beckman be able to pull off its best prom night yet? It seems that this year’s prom theme isn’t exciting to every student. The Grease/50’s theme may be too unoriginal to some students. So, what does Beckman think? Is prom overrated? Is this year’s prom theme going to be pulled off? Lets see who is excited.

“Man, I am so excited for prom. It’s my senior prom and last dance so I’m going to make the best of it and get jiggy with it! My tie is orange, so it’s going to be like ‘BAM, I’m here!’ It’s going to be a blast. The theme could have been more original, but it’ll still be cool.” –Daniel Rodriguez , 12

“I believe the theme is kind of lame. Prom shouldn’t really have a theme that is based on a movie. Either way, prom is going to be a lot of fun for everyone, even though I’ve decided not to go. I’m saving all the fun for my senior prom. Prom is the perfect way to end a great school year.” -Ashley Kercher, 11

“Grease is a really good theme. Almost everyone loves and knows the 50’s theme really well. It should be so much fun. Even though I am a sophomore, it still sounds great, and I can’t wait to go next year.” -Sydney Young, 10

“I think that it’s okay for freshmen and sophomores to go. I was invited, but I can’t go anymore. I am so excited to go when I’m a junior. This year’s prom should be fun. I hope that the theme will be more original next year, though.” -Justus Seyler, 9

Although prom is mainly for the seniors and juniors, it is obvious to see that most are excited for May 17th. The prom dresses have been bought, the beauty appointments have been made, the tuxes have been fitted, and the limos will be on their way soon enough. Prom night is the prefect way to end our school year. The memories will always be kept forever. As our parents say, “high school is the time of your life.”
