IRVINE- The Beckman Varsity Softball girls marked their territory on March 14, 2007 with an outstanding home game victory against Tustin High School. Great performances were made in offense by players Allison Kaprielian, #6 and Sam Dollarhide, #11. Dollarhide managed to steal bases with a injured leg and made amazing defensive plays just as her teammate Rachel Lower, #8, dove for a defensive catch.

The team’s performance helped maintain a 6-0 shutout against Tustin until the bottom of the fourth inning. While Beckman continued to play great defense in the bottom of the fourth inning, an unexpected home run was hit off of pitcher Trista Thomas, #9, by Tiller, Jasmin Watson, #25. Although the home run changed the score so that Beckman was only five runs ahead this didn’t affect the Patriots because Katie Heldreth, #3 fielded the next hit and made the third out which allowed Beckman to gain back that lost run.

The Lady Patriots did not waste any time, Jasmin Harrel, #12, lead the bottom of the fifth inning with a homerun over the left fielders head on a 2-0 count. As if that weren’t enough, she also managed to hit a great triple later in the game. Jasmin’s home run soon put the Lady Patriots ahead by six. An out was made next by the Lady Tillers, but soon to come was a walk by Angel Delagado, #14, who made three to four consecutive hits throughout the game and a single hit by Trista Thomas, #9, added two runners on the bases. Two of the runners were scored by third baseman, and Angelique#16, with a hard hit double, leaving Angie in a scoring position. The wait for Delgado and Alvarez was not too long because Katie Heldreth, #3, managed to hit a single and score both runners totaling the score at 10-1. Next, a great hit by #7, Kari Gonzales, was unfortunately caught by the Tiller short stop, Margerett Wilkins, #5, making herself the second out of the inning, and an attempt to steal by Beckman was destroyed by Tustin ending the inning.

Trista Thomas, who is an excellent pitcher, caused two outs of her own with great strike outs and the third was made by a catch from Angelique, making the top of the sixth inning a quick one. At the bottom of the sixth inning, players such as Kindra Bennett, #5, Megan Denio, #2, and Jasmin Harrell, #12, assisted in adding two runs throughout the inning, changing the score to 12-1. In the top half of the seventh inning, three quick outs were made by Beckman, ending the game. With the advantage of eleven runs the Beckman Girls Varsity Team prove their preparation for League.
