Beckman had its first TUSD (Tustin Unified School District) championship on Tuesday, December 12, 2006. The gym was filled with competing schools; Tustin High, Foothill High, and our very own Beckman High. Beckman won the overall TUSD championship as they are leading 12-6 in tournament wins. With two matches going on at the same time and three teams there, the gym was filled with excitement and intensity. Yelling back and forth created an atmosphere of tough competition. However it was still filled with familiar faces as they are all local schools.

Beckman wrestling has been doing quite well and are earning a deserved reputation, especially with individual wins. Top wrestlers include Ali Rawaf, Tom Kelly, Pablo Hernandez, Joey Curry and Bezhad Nouri. These guys have lead Beckman to many of their victories. Currently undefeated, Pablo Hernandez explains that winning, “feels tight!” and how he hopes that with his hard work he can reach his goal of winning CIF championships. He won his match versus Foothill in a 7-2 win. The only girl on the team, Freshman, Christina Zamora, already has a winning record of 7-1. Head Coach, Del Balso says with confidence that the teammates are “kids (who) work extremely hard”. It’s been a good season so far and they hope for much more success to come.
