Cleveland student Marcia Custer has been involved with art only since her junior year of high school, but she has made up for lost time with her sheer talent and niche for the subject.

Marcia has been researching the topic of fashion design since last year and is producing work that is based around every aspect of the trade. At the moment she is researching an artist named Mary Quant who works with fashion design as well. With the research that she has done Custer has created a new piece that is quite unique. It is made up of many materials such as a chalkboard, paper dolls, chalk and colored pencils.

The message that Marcia wanted to convey in this piece was that, “Although no one dreams of becoming a McDonald’s employee or a lush you cannot predict where you end up.”

Next year Marcia will be going on to college and she does not see herself pursuing a career in creating art, but maybe in art history. “One of my favorite parts of art is the researching,” she said.
