If you've noticed some extra spirit in your school day, you can thank seniors Pete Cajka and Tom Able. This energetic duo has brought fun and excitement to the announcements during third period.

Until this year, few could remember when announcements were the highlight of the day, when students actually listened to the announcements because they were entertaining, not just informative. Announcements became boring, monotonous and ignored the past couple years. It would be impossible to count how many meetings, practices or other reminders have been missed because students disregarded the uninteresting announcements. It even came to the point where teachers began lecturing, because most students would not listen to the announcements anyway.

This year, however, all that has changed. Several pairs of seniors have worked hard to make the announcements a time their audience can look forward to. They present the information in a way that is enjoyable, so it is not just a time when all in the school are forced to pay attention. It seems as though the recent twosome achieved the perfect combination of entertainment and information.

As a result of Cajka and Able's performance, the beginning of third period has never been so lively. Students have paid attention to what they would otherwise be inclined to tune out.

So to those who have participated in the announcements this year, thank you. It is because of you that students are no longer confused as to when meetings or practices are. It is because of you that individuals no longer feel bad because no one knows about their birthdays. You have made the rest of us want to pay attention.
