Optimist Club has had some amazing officers in the past but as three of the four officers left Hartland High School at the end of last year, Optimist Club needed new officers. This year, with a new Facebook Page for members, there was the need for a new technology officer. This new officer would not only be in charge of taking pictures, but updating the HHS Optimist Club Facebook page!    Congratulations to Optimist Club officials Courtney Meulenberg, who was elected vice president; Carson Vestergaard, who was elected secretary; and Jordan McKaig, who was elected treasurer. The president  and the technologist have yet to be determined but all candidates share amazing talent and Optimist Club would be happy to welcome any of them to their panel of officers.    “I think they [Meulenberg, Vestergaard, McKaig, and the two officers to be determined] will be great leaders for the Optimist Club,” said sophomore and member Megan Dophal. “They have a lot to offer for the group.”    Not only did the Optimist Club welcome new officers, but the group is looking forward to the new upcoming T-Shirts, which changes each year with a new quote. Each quote is shown to be optimistic and inspirational. This year the shirts are going to be blue, and the sun (with the optimistic face) is going to be colored orange for the first time ever.   “The shirt concept sounds exciting,” says Dophal. “I cannot wait to get mine!”    These shirts are definitely going to raise the positive attitude in Optimist Club. With so many people in the club this year, it will be common to see one of these upcoming shirts every day.    Many new activities are coming up including carving pumpkins at the senior center, the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program that takes place at Round Elementary School, and the Rockin' Reader program that takes place at Lakes Elementary School. Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and the Rockin' Reader program is a big commitment that takes place from November to March. These new activities that are taking place will spark a new optimism in the club.
