The Hartland FCCLA chapter has big plans for this school year. The club, which stands for Family, Career,
and Community Leaders of America, recently took eleven members to the National Leadership
Conference in July. At the conference held in Orlando, Fl., Hartland took home four gold medals, three
silver medals, and four bronze medals. FCCLA advisers and sponsors wanted to keep up the success, so
this yearcommittees were formed to complete more projects within the club.
There are currently six committees, including Environmental Ambassadors, Soles 4 Souls,
No Kid Hungry, March of Dimes, Relay for Life, andFCCLA Fundraising. Members of the club
can choose a committee to work for, and they do projects and fundraisers year-round.
“I’m excited for this year because we have so many projects already started,” club President
Holly Devitt said.
Each committee has a leader, who will help the projects run smoothly and efficiently. By
participating in these projects, club members will help benefit the community and learn to become leaders.
“I’m just really excited for our kids to be back this year helping others to show how much they
care about our community,” club adviser Jennifer Church said.
This year, FCCLA had many returning members at meetings, as well as some fresh faces.
These leaders will not only be part of committees this year, but they will also help with projects
around Hartland High School.
Club sponsor Dawn Farrell said that caramel apples will soon be for sale during lunches to raise
money for the club.
