People everywhere get married for different reasons. One of the main reasons that people here in the United States get married is for love. Yet in the past recent years, there have been many divorces and the rate continues growing. According to Jennifer Baker of the Forest Institute of Professional Psychology, about 50 percent of all marriages end in divorce. The divorce rate after a second marriage is 67 percent, and a third is 74 percent.
So why do so many people each year get divorced? Well, there are many known reasons for divorce. One of the leading causes is the lack of communication between couples. In a relationship you need to talk about your problems and feelings with your spouse. A few other reasons are lack of commitment, infidelity, financial problems, inability to manage or resolve conflict, differences of culture and lifestyle, alcohol addiction, and substance, physical, sexual, or emotional abuse. People also divorce sometimes because they simply just fall out of love.
According to sociologists, they believe another common cause of divorce is childlessness. At least 66 percent of all divorced couples in the United States are childless. Not having children, in some cases, can lead to loneliness and weariness. Also, people who marry in their teen years are less likely to stay together. You should give it time to know everything about the person before you make a lifelong commitment.
So, if you are thinking about getting married, you should start off by making sure that you are marrying for the right reason. Love. Other reasons such as pregnancy, loneliness, or money are not very valid reasons. Even though love is not the only thing that can hold a marriage together, without it, the chances of making a relationship last are very slim. The best thing to do for a successful marriage is be honest and open with your partner. Communication is the key. So quit wasting your money on divorce, and give a new meaning to love and marriage.
