Hamilton High School added a new sport to their fall line-up-girls soccer.

Soccer has existed in the past, but there was interest in an all girls team, so Stephanie Stoy started a petition to add the team and enough girls showed interest.

There are 14 girls who joined the team, coached by Adam Weikel. Weikel said the team is doing “better than expected.”

“It’s a lot more than just running sports,” Weikel said.

“We get more playing time, the practices are a lot different,” Junior Myileigh Cool said, “there’s not as much messing around, but there is more complaining and whining.”

“There is more complaining,” Courtnie Smith said. “There is more emotion within the game than just skill.”

The team plays their last game before sectionals against Lakeland on October 3, there, at 5:00.
