Faculty struts stuff at annual music show - Christian Johnson
This year’s American Music Awards – or as many people will
refer to it as the canceled Faculty Christmas Show – held by Student
Government, was full of excitement, unexpected surprises, cheers and more
importantly laughs.
The show, which featured special guests such as Ms. Rega
Wesley-Stewart as Willow Smith, Ms. Trisch Moyer-Smith as Mariah Carey, Mr.
Erwin Claggett as Wiz Khalifa. But no one seemed to grab the attention of the
crowd like Mr. Joe Henke did as Waka Flocka that night.Henke’s performance
caused laughter and pandemonium throughout the crowd; this performance was
clearly the highlight of the show.
“I felt powerful, making the crowd go crazy. I felt a sense
of power,” said Henke regarding his performance to “Hard In the Paint” by
Flocka.
What many people don’t know is what Henke did to prepare for
his debut as a rap star was watch videos of Flocka constantly on Youtube, and
then the costume came to him in bits and pieces. The teachers aren’t the only
ones who put in work to prepare for the show. Student Government put in hours
of hard work in hopes to have a show they expected. “Preparing for the show,
was hard work but it was a lot of fun,” said senior Wendi Garner.
Even with having to reschedule the show because of snow
days, the crowd seemed to be well entertained watching their teachers in more
or less ways embarrass themselves.
“This was the best show this year for the show, especially
Henke’s performance,” said senior Catrina Harris.
