In need of a donut? Look no further than locally owned Old
Town Donuts. Owned and operated by McCluer grad Keith Took, this donut shop has
all kinds of donuts and flavors from have the classic glazed donuts to
something off the charts like a peanut cake donut. Prices are affordable as
well; the average donut runs about 83 cents. This place isn’t just known around
the Ferguson-Florissant area, but citywide; it was voted No. 1 donut shop in
St. Louis on 105.7 The Point in 2009 and No. 1 by the North County Suburban
Journal an astonishing 10 years in a row. When you walk in the shop the smell
of the different donuts takes over. You can actually see the donuts being made
in the back of the shop, which adds to the appetizing atmosphere.
Old Town features a different donut of the day every day.
The store always has a new donut to try, from lemon-flavored to banana nut.
Personally, my favorite is the blueberry cake donut. As opposed to other cake
donuts that are hard and dry, Old Town’s actually taste like a cake but with
blueberries. I recommend you go in and try some. I’m pretty sure you’ll find
your favorite as well.
Plus, I’m not the only Old Town lover. “I love them,” said
Mr. Tim Luecke. “If I’m buying donuts that’s where I go.”
Students can even get a taste of Old Town in the form of
donut holes sold at school. Every Friday they are three for $1
