The time has come! It's pi day usually celebrated on March 14 but this year that day falls on Spring Break. So The club members of Mu Alpha Theta, the math honor society and competition team, decided to celebrate it on March 11.
To raise money for the club's trips to competitions, the members decided they wanted students to throw pie into teachers faces.
"This was something fun and entertaining for students for the, to see teahers in a fun way getting pied in the face," says Ms. Lisa Berkson, the Mu Alpha Theta sponsor. Students voted on which teacher among those who agreed to participate would be the ones to get a pie in the face. If the club had raised $314, symbolic of the number pi, then all of the teachers who volunteered would have gotten "pied."
Instead, only those who won the vote got "pied" for Mourning High's first-ever Pi Day celebration were Ms. Berkson, and two Language Arts teachers: Ms. Alison O'Neil and Mr. Nikolai Orekhov. Principal Sally Alayon also took a pie to the face.
