Who didn't love lover's day?
Love floated through the halls of ATM this Valentine’s Day. Couples and friends alike sported glimmering red heart shaped balloons, fluffy teddy bears, and boxes of chocolates.
The school offered many ways to surprise your honey with a gift this V-Day. Mrs. Meras was in charge of selling lollipop grams and heart balloons.
“We have ‘sweet hearts’ pops for your friends and ‘hot lips’ ones for that special someone,” Meras said with a wink.
Buying either of these qualified students to enter the raffle for the giant teddy bear; who was showcased on the third-floor display case. The Diamond Dancers sold and delivered candy grams to sweeten your sweetie’s day. Baggies of chocolates and treats were nestled in several dozen hands, and mouths.
Couples cuddled wherever you looked. One turn in any direction and a smooch was sure to be seen. Junior Rachel Sorsher said she enjoyed Valentine’s Day by exchanging gifts with her boyfriend, Julian Martinez, also in eleventh grade.
Freshman Maria Negrin had other plans with her beau; the two shared a romantic dinner together Monday evening. “Love is about caring for another person, you feel butterflies in your stomach, its ... crazy. Just look it up,”she said.
Others didn’t care for Valentine’s Day as much as those that were love struck by baby Cupid. Those who were single this year called Monday “Single Awareness Day” or “Just another Monday.”
Noemi Soto, junior, said she would be sad because she didn’t have someone to shower her with cheesy gifts. “Love is a spark of affection that doesn’t go away; you just know when you feel it. It’s sweet and sometimes sour, and then it’s gone,” Noemi said with a snap of her fingers.
At the end of the day when people were stuffed with sweets and tired of hauling around their presents the winner of the teddy bear was finally announced. Sam Wolfson, sophomore, was the lucky recipient of the mammoth fluffy bear.
Although V-Day has passed and the candies long since consumed; couples still swoon in the halls, relishing in their memories of the sweet holiday.
