Jane and Roxy live on Long Island and have different plans on each of their futures. Jane, played by Ashley Olsen, is the smart one and is a real overachiever. Roxy, played by Mary-Kate Olsen, is in a rock band and loves music.

Both of them want to go to New York for their own reasons. Jane has a meeting at Columbia University where she has the chance to win a scholarship. She is going to make a speech there so she can try to get a scholarship to Oxford University. Jane wants to go there because she wants to get away from her sister Roxy. Roxy wants to go to New York because she knows Simple Plan is going to be there and she wants to give them one of her tapes. She wants them to hear the music her band made to see if they could help them out in some way.

They both get on the train to try to get there. On the train, they both got kicked off and they found a limo and rode in it to get to New York. They didn’t know that this limo was involved in a very big burglary scandal. This limo is a part of the scandal involving the black market music privacy. They didn’t know this, but now they are involved and are in big trouble. During this whole thing, a truant officer, named Lomax, played by Eugene Levy, is going after Roxy. He thinks she looks real suspicious and he goes after her. They journey takes them to many cities like Chinatown, Harlem, and in the end, they actually make it to the Columbia University. Will Jane make it there in time, or will she lose this opportunity for a scholarship? Will Roxy be caught by her parents and be sent to convent school?

New York Minute entered theaters on May 7th 2004. It was a major hit to the adolescent audience. It is rated PG so anyone can see it and it is a real cute movie to spend an hour and a half on.
