What do you hope to bring to the varsity level in girls’ basketball?

First, an attitude that playing basketball the right way is fun and beneficial. In being around the program for over three years, that’s not something I’ve seen an abundance of. Also, basketball philosophies I have acquired both playing and coaching, and of course winning.

What are your expectations for this season (personally & team)?

My main personal expectation is that the players can learn something from me that will make them better/more successful. My expectations for the team include all the girls playing together, being competitive in every game and improving from day to day.

What are you doing to help prepare the team for contending this season?

I try to find weaknesses we have as a team, then suggest ways to implement drills into practice that will attempt to eliminate those weaknesses. A balanced, well-rounded team is hard to beat.

How is your previous coaching experience going to help you fill the assistant coach’s role?

In being the freshman coach for three years I was able to go through many different “trial-and-error” experiences that will help in future coaching. The basics of a coach’s strategy doesn’t really change from level to level, just the rate of execution. One thing that will take some adjusting is the fact that I don’t have the final say.

What do you feel this team has that can potentially set them apart from their opponents?

Versatility. We have a number of different players that can do a lot of good things on the court. We have some real match-up problems for other teams and when the girls find out how to take advantage of it, watch out!
