Tommy Mills has a hectic but very productive life. An energetic and engaged student, he believes very much in Theophrastus’s quote, “Time is the most valuable thing a man can spend.” Mills, however, seems to have very little time to spend freely.

“I have over two hours of homework every night,” he stated, along with being involved in many clubs in school. This comes on top of difficult classes such as AP Psychology, AP American Government and AP Calculus. He also works after school. “I’m employed at McDonald’s [where] I’m in training to become a crew trainer,” Mills said.

Mills, though interested in school and school activities, stated, “It amazes me how boring school can be. In my physics class, every day I seem to drift away and doze off despite the fact this could possibly be my major in college.”

He is mostly interested in science, and Mills said that he wishes to study astronomy and eventually work in a physics-related field. “I hope to attend Madison or Marquette,” he stated.

Mills seems to be quite the humanitarian, spending his valuable time with clubs and activities such as Key Club, Human Relations, the National French Honor Society, the Prevention Policy Board, Teens Against Tobacco Use, Unleashed Potential, Fighting Against Corporate Tobacco and Pep Band. He plays the flute in Band and states that music is his current favorite subject in school “because it’s my passion.”

Though Mills has little time for them, he has many good friends. He counts on them for support in his goals. “I have a lot [of] friends that I know I can go to because all of them are there when I need them.”
