Sales of Apple’s extensive line of technological gadgets topped $20 billion in the company’s fourth-quarter reports.

Apple announced Monday that the release of the iPad and continued success of iPod’s and iPhone’s contributed to the surprising results.

Apple CEO Steve Jobs, who is “blown away” by the over $20 billion figure, says, “We still have a few surprises left for the remainder of this calendar year."

Although 1.8 million short of the 5 million estimated by analysts, Apple sold 4.2 million iPads in the quarter. Despite the disappointment for Apple, the 4.2 million was up from the previous quarter’s 3.3 million, and accounted for 13% ($2.7 billion) of this quarter’s sale. The revenue generated by the iPad was one Apple didn’t have six months ago.

Apple sold 14.1 million iPhone’s this quarter, a shocking 91% more than this time last year. This number, as well as the overall sales revenue, topped Wall Street’s original anticipations.

In a dig against competitor Google’s Android operating system (available on many different platforms), Jobs claims, “We make products that work. [Google’s] approach is different than that. We’re going to pursue ours, and we think that’s the winning approach in the end.”
