Student wearing whiskers to demonstrate panther spirit. - Lacortney Holt
Panther spirit, in my opinion no other school can contest with MHS. I can proudly say that I have the upmost pride in my school. It seems like weeks ago, we were freshmen, literally. I will sincerely miss my great academic instructors and my friends who have come to be in my heart, familia. When I look at the class of 2012 today, I have no doubt in my mind; success among us is imminent, even as a millennial (otherwise known as the lost generation).
As the generations progress, hardships are presented. We have prevailed thus far. For what reason would you stop. I believe that chasing a dream gives you a reason to adventure the world. And just think everywhere you go you’ll have the pride and spirit of the MHS panthers. Here a MHS we have a set of values called the “Panther 3” which consists of pride, dignity, and excellence, the formula of the panther spirit. An example of our school’s greatness is its post-secondary opportunities; we’ve had many great universities visit our establishment this academic year. Universities like Trevecca Nazarene University, Belmont University, UTK, TSU, Nashville State, Vanderbilt University, Lipscomb University and more took time to visit us on our weekly “College Mondays” holiday.
Maplewood has experienced physical, academic and spiritual renovations over the last decade, all for the better, “What makes it so great to be apart of the MHS family, well that fact that we call it a family and that’s what it is, that’s really awesome and to know that my colleagues and students look out for me in that loving way is just indescribable, it feels really good to have a leadership this year who’s doing what needs to be done makes the MHS family a great family to be a part of” says Mr. John Davis, Spanish instruction and head soccer coach at Maplewood High School.
