In high school, we learn
so much everyday. We learn
the quadratic formula, how
to write a chemical equation,
and who the 27th president
was. But the one thing they
don’t teach us is how to
stand in front of the people
we’ve grown up with and say
goodbye.
PHS is currently learning
how to deal with this
new experience, as a number
of students have decided
to graduate early. Nikole
Edwards ‘12 expressed her
worry about losing the
people she’s close with.
“I hate change. I’m going
to miss the people I see
everyday,” she said.
However, others claim
they will not miss anything.
“I get to go to prom
and graduation. I’ll be fine
without the drama,” said
Megan Paggeot ‘12.
“I’m excited for early
graduation. I can’t wait to
get out of here,” said Erika
Havenaar ‘12.
The rest of the group
who have decided to
graduate early also seem
excited for their futures.
Jeff Birman ‘12 is going to
the fire academy in Grand
Rapids after he graduates.
Paggeot, Havenaar, and
Edwards said they are all
going to work as much as
possible to save money.
PHS staff is also sad to
see the students graduate
early.
“I wish they could
be here. I think it’s the
funnest tri and it must
be hard to be out of the
loop,” said counselor Rich
Luszak.
Although the staff and
students may be proud of
students choosing early
graduation, many feel that
PHS will lose some of its
spirit.
Most seniors are realizing
how short our last
year really is and soon the
class of 2012 will be going
our separate ways. But for
now, goodbye early graduation
students! Hope to
see you at prom!
