The bell rings and you see students standing around. Most of the time the lingering students are taking their time to get to class. They are not only being a disturbance to other classes as they wander down the halls, but are also interrupting their class by being late. This is why we now have hall sweeps.

If you are not in class by the time the tardy bell rings you are rounded up into the principal’s office and given two hours of detention.  The first time you are given a warning, but the second time is when you are given the two hours. It does say in the student handbook that the person giving the punishment is allowed to give the two hours of detention on the first sweep if necessary.

That is how the hall sweeps work. They are at periodic times through out the day and will be continued throughout the year. Some teachers and administrators will agree that they have fewer tardies since the hall sweeps began.

Even after the hall sweeps are done, there are still students wandering the halls on occasion without a hall pass. Some might wonder what happens to these students, do they go unnoticed? The answer to that is no. Students that are caught in the hall without a hall pass will recieve two hours of detention, or if you do have a class and are more than ten minutes late you will recieve a truencey.

It doesn't matter if you don't have a class, if you're on work release, if you're a senior or if you have a college class. Students are students and it goes the same for everybody. Hall sweeps are beneficial to the high school learning expirence because there are fewer disruptions, and less distraction as the sweeps continue. Avoid all of the trouble and be to class on time.
