Northshore's Choir - Ayla Oden
Advertising

Northshore is warming up their vocals with Mrs. Seme’s A Cappella Choir and Silvertongues Show Choir. The talented students have been as busy as they could possibly get this school year. In their Fall Season, the class led the National Anthem at Northshore’s Veterans Day Program. In Winter, to celebrate the seasons, the class performed at Christmas in the Oaks, Lighting of the Angel Trees for Hospice Foundation of the South, and even had time to fit in a home concert on December 9th, alongside with the NHS band.

Some students recall the “Random Act of Culture” the choir performed in the Commons before the Christmas break began. Mrs. Seme’s and Mr. Wilde’s students sang Christmas carols for the students and faculty one day during lunch. “We’re planning some more Random Acts of Culture, so be on the alert!” Mrs. Seme said.

Despite all the hard work, it’s still a new year, and the choirs are ready to roll. On February 24th and 25th, the choir is performing in their own concert. Between the harmonious vocals and the Show Choir’s choreography, the show should be quite a hit! Mrs. Seme explained the show as a “A Blast From the Past along with pieces from the future.” The show will include pieces by the unforgettable Beatles, James Bond, Hair: The Musical, and Glee music. The doors open at 7:00 p.m. with admission being five dollars.

In Spring, Arts Night is a busy time for the choir, as they prepare for the yearly performance. At the end of the Easter Holidays, the choirs are traveling all the way to Branson, Missouri where they’ll perform as an opening act at one of the venues.

Auditions for the A Cappella and Silvertongues Show Choir take place in the Spring. Students trying out will have to learn and perform a piece in front of a Committee of the Choir and Mrs. Seme herself.

“This year the group is really together. We’re really close, and everyone’s a quick learner,” Senior Alex Sousa says. Despite its hectic schedule, the choir is enjoying every minute of it. Warm up your vocals and practice your scales, because you don’t want to miss out next year!
