Habitat for Humanity is a great nonprofit organization that builds houses for those who are in need. The work generally starts from early in the morning until late in the afternoon. It is a great learning and growing experience. People of many ages take part, but to participate, you must be older than sixteen. In order to sign up, you just go to the website and register for the desired work day online or call the East St. Tammany Office ((985) 639-0656) for information. Soon after the work day will arrive, and the tools will be supplied at the work site, but you must supply the working spirit and positive attitude. This organization helps others by providing an opportunity to give shelter and comfort to those who are less fortunate. The work given can be anything from cleaning a dirty lot or building up a house. Many groups are involved in this giving organization. The community service organization called Slidell’s Juniors Auxiliary in Service recently held a work day. They cleaned up a piece of land that was littered with dirt and garbage. Bradley Robinson, a Junior Auxiliary member from Northshore, states,” It felt good to know that I am helping the community.” So get involved and help out Slidell’s Habitat for Humanity.
