It’s that time of year again. Seniors are starting the ordeal of scholarships, and in about a month, juniors will be facing the ever-looming ACT.

Everyone is a little stressed out, so don’t be too surprised if the upperclassmen are a little more cranky than usual.

When times like these come around, it’s really important that everyone has his own way to de-stress.

Some people may turn to exercise. Going for a run can give people that time alone that they need as well as giving them some self-fulfillment in knowing they have kept their body healthy in doing so.

Others might use yoga with its deep breathing exercises and meditation techniques that are intended to bring the body to a state of pure relaxation.

Sometimes, all a person needs is some time to laugh. A half hour to an hour dedicated to a favorite TV show (or possibly a book?) can be just enough to rejuvenate and replenish a person’s energy and attitude.

My personal way to de-stress lies in music. I find nothing more relaxing than simply lying in my room and letting the soothing voices of Mumford and Sons or some other “chill” band wash over me. In fact, this is what I was doing right before I sat down to write this article.

So, as the stress of these upcoming months begins to culminate, make sure to make some time for yourself and your personal method of removing stress. It’s a lot easier to get work done without that twinge of anxiety in your stomach, trust me.
